The Department of Art Practice at UC Berkeley is seeking a dynamic ceramic artist for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 24, 2024.

As we embark on this Academic Year, we also step into a new era for the department, celebrating 101 years of creativity, exploration, and groundbreaking art at Berkeley!

The winners of the Murphy Award and the Cadogan Scholarships receive financial awards and have their work displayed in a professionally curated exhibition at SOMArts Cultural Center.

We're excited to share that we added six new upper division studio courses for Spring 2023!

Congratulations to Art Practice Professor Greg Niemeyer for receiving a $25,000 Peder Sather Grant! Greg Niemeyer's project's topic is "Optimizing Affective and Cognitive Impact of Network Visualizations" in the Engineering and Design field. Greg will be working with Roger Antonsen from the University of Oslo.

The Department of Art Practice is thrilled to inaugurate the Art Practice New Major Award, an unrestricted $500 monetary award in recognition that early support of undergraduate students can make a difference.

Platform reopens for spring programming, and this semester has an exciting focus on alumni and lecturers! Stay tuned for detailed information each week.

Each semester Art Practice majors are invited to submit applications for a $200 grant, and we are pleased to be able to offset materials costs and help so many students in producing their work! For Spring 2022 we were able to award a total of 15 students (all applicants) this semester, supported by the Toombs endowment fund.
