42 Pending Tasks, the Spring 2024 Senior Thesis exhibition, showcases the diverse perspectives and stories of seniors in the Art Practice department. Featuring a variety of mediums and viewpoints, each artwork invites viewers to ponder the complexities of personal and societal dynamics. From reflections on family dynamics to commentary on gender politics and social justice, the exhibition sparks meaningful conversations about the world we live in.
42 is a play on Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which 42 appears as the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything in it. In this context, it represents the multitude of tasks, issues, or questions that the artists are exploring and addressing through their artwork. These are ongoing endeavors, reflecting the continuous process of growth, reflection, and engagement with the world around us. Through this collaborative effort, the artists of the Class of 2024 invite you to engage with the 42 pending tasks that shape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
