Omid Shekari is a multidisciplinary artist from Iran. His work looks into the militarization of the government, the violence committed against civilians, and the meaning of nationalism and patriotism. He is committed to the responsibility of art to reflect and resist sovereign violence in both its flagrant forms (wars, tortures, prisons) and in its everyday forms (abandonment and policing of bodies). Shekari’s work has been exhibited at The Sculpture Center (Cleveland), The Drawing Center, Wilmer Jennings Gallery (NYC), PAFA Museum, Fleisher Art Memorial, Woodmere Art Museum (Philadelphia), Akron Art Museum, Ohio State University (OH), and Azad Art Gallery (Tehran). Shekari received his BFA from Soore University in Tehran and an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
