This panel discussion between the six Art Practice MFA '22 students, and exhibition curator, Claire Frost will consider the questions of what, how, and why artists make what they make. Speaking two at a time, the artists will speak about their artistic practice and the process of making work for their culminating MFA exhibition. Since 1970 the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive has hosted the annual MFA Art Practice exhibition. Now in its 52nd year, the exhibition provides a vital point of connection between the museum and the Art Practice students that celebrates the students work and the culmination of their time at UC Berkeley. While the exhibition showcases the work of each of the individual students in the Art Practice program, it is also a deeply collaborative project in which a variety of forces and influences shape the work that is made and presented--all of which will be discussed in this program.
Presented by the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive and UC Berkeley’s Department of Art Practice.
